Ellis had a soccer game this morning, and, as has become our habit, I took him and Anson. While Ellis played with his team, Anson and I had a back-of-the-car picnic, played pretend baseball on the tennis court, watched a birthday party tug-of-war, and spent a few minutes on the playground. Both Ellis and his team played well, but they lost. After the game, the opposing coach came over to ask Ellis if he would like to try out for his select team in the fall -- a very nice compliment, which Ellis and I both appreciated.

After the game, I took the boys to the nice little fountain and plaza in front of the Barnes & Noble in Bethesda. I bought them each a Clayboys shaved ice, which they thoroughly enjoyed.
