A very summery day -- hot and humid building up to loud thunderstorms in the evening. I took Ellis to his soccer game in the morning and was able to take some nice pictures since Anson was with Helen. As usual, Ellis wanted California Tortilla for lunch afterwards, so the five of us (with Miles) met up in downtown Bethesda for a nice meal. I took a nap while Ellis and Anson went to a puppet show with Helen, then got up to take Miles to his girlfriend's house in McLean. I drove through Greenway Heights to take a look at my old house and also circled around the cul-de-sac where Peter lived. I saw a lady who look almost, but not quite, like his mother out walking a dog. I was just about to stop and say hello when I realized that I wasn't sure she was who I thought she was, so I rolled the window back up and kept driving. That was a bit unnerving. I drove home and was able to cut the grass -- the backyard was so overgrown that I felt I was not just cutting it, but reclaiming it in the name of civilization -- before the thunderstorms hit. In the evening, we worked on the Concord Hill yearbook and I read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy before falling asleep after midnight (without working out, as I usually do in the evening).
Here's Ellis during his soccer game. He's an excellent player -- ready to move up to the next level, I think. More photos of his game here: (clicky to come).
