Ellis had a Suzuki recital today at Strathmore Hall.
I'm not sure who decided that we need a concert hall here in Bethesda (especially with the Kennedy Center nearby), but they weren't just messing around. The new building is world-class, and it was a treat to see it in all its glory. A zillion ushers were on duty, acting as though Rostropovich was about to perform with the National Symphony Orchestra, when it was actually just a bunch of kids playing Suzuki "Twinkles". Who pays for all those people?
